What to Expect
A great abundance of species is home in this reserve which includes 147 mammals, the ‘Big Five’, 114 reptiles, more than 500 bird species, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 different trees. The Thornybush Reserve is mainly open savannah offering a home to a great variety of wildlife.
Guests have the opportunity to explore the bushveld with its untamed wildlife either in open Land Rovers and on foot. During both wildlife experiences, visitors are accompanied by professional rangers who share their in-depth knowledge about the area’s unique ecosystem.

N’Kaya Lodge has four exclusive suites that offer the very best in privacy and is the ideal destination for a quiet, peaceful safari. Guests can sit back and relax while taking in the fantastic vies of the Drakensberg mountain range. The rooms also have a private lounge and twin en-suite amenities.
All meals are inclusive at N’Kaya Game Lodge. Guests are treated to a hearty breakfast in the morning which includes cereals, fruits, yoghurts, pastries and meals cooked to order.
Prior to the afternoon game drive, a huge high tea spread is laid on, which includes both sweet and savoury dishes.
Dinner is taken either in the boma under the stars around a crackling fire or next to the fireplace indoors if the weather is otherwise. From time to time, guests are also treated to bush dinners at a romantic location on the reserve.
The cuisine is delicious, nutritious and abundant.
